Just On The Other Side Of The Wall

My figures live their lives unaware of and undisturbed by the possibilities outside well defined boundaries. They allow only the views that are appropriate, that reflect what they know to be true. They are prevented by discomfort, even fear, and perhaps, the most difficult to overcome, the unconscious dictates of tradition and education from venturing beyond this arbitrary framework. For some, the potential for more never occurs to them. For others, there are shadows, hints of color, fleeting thoughts that tantalize, intrigue, dismay and vanish. And for the few that look too closely at their world, behind the facade, at what is really there, the worn and shabby and threadbare, the illusion of contentment is shattered.
